One of my most hilarious days of 2015 was when a friend of mine was feeling oppressed by my Android phone (not like he knew much about phones anyway) and was determined to outshine me. What are the things to look out for when trying to spot a fake Samsung phone?

1. Physical appearance / performance: If you’ve seen the original or can get access to one then a side by side comparison would be a good pointer. You should compare the screen size, buttons, sensors, display quality, user interface, components under the back cover and logo. If you cant get an original then online pictures from different angles should do.

2. Graphics and performance: Reboot the phone then observe the boot sound and animation. Also, try running some games and apps then observe the phone’s performance

5.  Samsung Kies detection: Samsung KIES is a desktop manager for Samsung phones. If its unable to recognize the device then that’s another red flag. To carry out this test:

Download Samsung Kies here
Navigate to Settings > Applications > Development and disable USB debugging
Navigate to Settings > Wireless and network > USB settings and tick Ask on connection
Launch Samsung Kies
Connect the phone to PC and select Samsung Kies when prompted for a connection mode
Kies will attempt to connect to the device, give it some time
Kies should display the device’s name and firmware version  if the phone is detected. If Kies can’t detect it after several attempts then that’s a red flag

==> Rename it from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt8 to msgstore.db.crypt8

How to unroot a Mediatek Android phone in order to successfully install an OTA update

We've published a post here recently on how to unroot Mediatek Android phone fully but it seems some Android phone proved so stubborn.

It does feel good to see an Over The Air (OTA) update from your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), especially when its a leap from one major version of Android to another. In a haste to update, some device users end up encountering errors or even bricking their phones while trying to install OTA updates on rooted devices; causing the phones in question to always boot straight into recovery mode. In such a situation, a factory reset doesn’t help in any way.

Why do I need to unroot before I can install an OTA update?

OTA updates are signed. This means the Android system checks the integrity of core partitions before proceeding with installation of the OTA zip file. What this means is that if you have somehow altered these core partitions, you will likely encounter an error or end up with a bricked Android phone.

What exactly am I trying to achieve by unrooting?

You are simply trying to return your boot, recovery and system partitions to their original states so they can pass the System test (Root Integrity check).

How do I perform a Root Integrity check?

Boot into Stock recovery mode (see guide)
In Stock recovery, select Root Integrity check and wait for the result
Why isn’t the unroot option in my SuperSU or Kinguser the best option for me?

We’ve had a number of bricked phones due to opting for this method of unrooting. Your /system partition has already been modified / patched so you’re still exposed to the possibility of an incompatibility with the OTA zip file since the Super User unroot option does not completely cover its trail.

How do I unroot an MTK phone before flashing an OTA update?

You will be reverting the boot, recovery and system partitions because they are core and are commonly altered in order to root or after rooting. To unroot your MTK Android phone ahead of an OTA update:

Download the firmware for your phone model from Here

Extract the content into a folder using any zip / rar file manager of your choice (e.g 7zip, Winrar, B1 Archiver etc)

Install VCOM drivers on your PC

Flash only recovery, boot and system (Android) using SP flash tool. See guide here. Untick the rest and ensure to use the Download only option

If you wish to flash the entire firmware then use the Firmware upgrade option or Infinix Flash tool. See guide here

Wait till flashing is complete and you get a green OK prompt (Do not interrupt SP flash tool or Infinix flash tool while flashing )

Disconnect the phone then boot it up
Will I lose my data after unrooting using this method?

If you flash only recovery, boot and system (Android) then your data will not be affected. If -on the other hand- you flash the entire firmware then you will lose your data.

whenever you want to upgrade your device make sure you backup your files before doing so

==> Not recognizing USB on PC: Chill Android 6.0.1 will surely fixed it

==> PSP game not playing e.g pes, GTA sa:
This problem occur because Android Marshmallow was designed by Google to work with only one storage location [Adoptable Storage]. This means you can only choose either the internal storage or your Micro SD card. When you pick your SD card as internal storage, the SD card becomes the “new” internal storage.
All your app data and game data will surely work after you format your SD card as internal storage. One catch though, your SD card won’t be as fast, or reliable as the internal memory.

==> The phone was successfully upgraded to Mashmallow but fails to boot up
You can go back to Android One using the same steps you used in upgrading. But
If you have Mashmallow Update on your device or PC, run it again or flash it via SP Flash Tool.

==> Slow in performance : wait for few weeks to make this new update settled.

==> Contact not displaying names after making or receiving a call
Go to your google settings and remove all google account, after some minutes, add them back and your problem should fixed then.

==>Battery drain
Wait for few days for the software to settle, if the problem persist, then go to settings>>>Apps>>check apps that are currently running  on your phone and force stop the ones you are not using.

==> Not having access to files and document
During initial setup most of us mistakenly put ourselves in guest account. This means the phone sees you as a guest. Hence, it restricts your use of the phone. Please check if guess mode is enabled, if you’re on it, reset your phone to factory settings.

The Infinix Hot 2 X510 February Marshmallow OTA update (SP flash tool format) is now available

Are you still unable to upgrade your Infinix hot 2 to Android 6.0 a.k.a Marshmallow?  If yes then this tutorial is for you

A few days ago, Team Hovatek dropped the ROMDump (SP flash tool format) for the Infinix Hot 2 Android 6 Marshmallow (January 1, 2016) X510-D5110-M-Androidone-20160107 build. The February 1, 2016 build is now available (to upgrade OTA, navigate to Settings > About > System updates) and we have also created a ROMDump for it.

Note: This is not an official firmware from Infinix. Team Hovatek dumped the firmware of our copy of the Infinix Hot 2 X510 which had been successfully upgraded to Marshmallow (Android 6.0) OTA.

How to upgrade Infinix Hot 2 to the Android 6 Marshmallow (1, February 2016) X510-D5110-M-Androidone-20160115 build using SP flash tool

==>Download the ROMDump for X510-D5110-M-Androidone-20160115 by Team HovatekHere

==>Install VCOM drivers on your PC

==>Flash the ROMDump to the Infinix Hot 2 X510 using SP flash tool (Do not interrupt flashing)

If the phone gets stuck at boot animation, take out the battery and slot back in then leave the phone to boot up normally

How To Upgrade Infinix Hot 2 x510 To Marshmallow 6.0 Using Sp Flashtools

Some people still Infinix Hot 2 users still find it difficult to upgrade their Smartphone to latest Android 6.0 a.k.a Marshmallow with the recent method. Below is the simple method for you to flash/install the Android 6.0 on your Infinix Hot 2 via SP Flash Tool.

Note: You can now update your Hot2 via OTA. It is advisable you find out if the update is already available on your phone so that you don’t go through all these long processes. To check, navigate to Settings » About Phone » Software Update. If it say your system is up to date, you can then commence with the steps below.

Also Note: This is not an official firmware from Infinix. It is a copy of Marshmallow Rom dumped by Hovatek Team to create its scattered file, which makes flashing possible via SP Flash Tool.

Steps to Install VCOM Drivers
1. Extract the downloaded Vcom Drivers.
2. Go to Device Manager » click Action » click Add Legacy Hardware
3. Under welcome to add new hardware, click next
4. Select, Advanced Option and click next
5. Select "show all devices" and click next.
6. Click have disk
7. Browse to your Vcom Drivers extracted folder and select the driver setup up file and click
open, then ok.
8. Select Mediatek preloader usb vcom driver and click next.

To Flash Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Infinix Hot 2 X510 Via SP Flash Tool
1. Extract the Android 6.0 Dump Rom file which you downloaded from the above link to the desktop screen of your computer or create a folder and extract to it.
2. Now, power off your device, and remove the battery.
3. Navigate to the SP Flash Tool folder and double click on it
4. Launch the SP flash tool.exe
5. Once it is launched, hit the Scatter-loading button. Navigate to the Infinix Hot 2 rom folder and select the scatter file MT6580_Android_scatter.txt "
6. Hit the "Download' button in SP Flash Tool to begin the flashing process
7. Connect your Smartphone immediately to the computer with a USB without battery, and press Volume Down or up key, so it would be detected easily by your computer.
8. The Flashing process would be in progress, and once the Flashing is complete you will see a green circle confirming... With Download OK

Simple as that. Boot your Infinix Hot 2 devices and Android 6.0 Marshmallow will smile to your on the device!

Following the Netflix expansion recently to more than 130 countries including Nigeria, is getting serious about controlling the access of its content. The popular movie and TV shows streaming service will stop subscribers from using internet proxies and VPN to view content that is not available in their countries.

How To Root, Install TWRP Recovery And Xposed On Infinix Hot 2 Marshmallow 6.0

Good news is here again to all users of Infinix Hot 2 running Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS.. In my previous post, I talked about how to manually upgrade Infinix Hot 2 running Androod One Os to the official Marshmallow 6.0 OS for those that can not wait for direct OTA update on their phone . Some people like me can not use Android phone without rooting permission properly installed on it, this is because rooting permission allows an Android users to carried out some task e.g direct installation of app, changing of font, installation of Xposed e.t.c  In this article, i will be guiding you on how to install TWRP recovery, root and also run Xpose Modules on your upgraded in simpler form and I promise to be well explanatory 

Infinix Hot 2 Marshmallow 6.0

REQUIREMENTS:

* A PC
* Infinix Hot 2 on Android 6.0 Os
* Recovery Enabler
* TWRP Recovery
* SUPER SU for Marshmallow
* Xposed Framework for Marshmallow (Optional)
* SP Flashtools or Infinix Flash Tool
* Some couple of minutes  

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALLED THE ABOVE MENTIONED FILE FROM THE BELOW LINKS:

STEPS:

Good news! Once again for Infinix Hot 2 users. I've announced it earlier that latest Android 6.0 (codenamed Marshmallow) is out for Infinix hot 2 but  Unfortunately, the update is rolling out slowly. But if you can't wait to get the update from device settings, here is the OTA URL Link

NOTE: THIS IS NOT FOR INFINIX HOT 2 USERS ON INFINIX'S XUI. THIS UPDATE IS FOR THE ANDROID ONE ROM

Pre-Requisites:
Must be on a NON ROOTED ROM
Must have STOCK recovery, NOT custom revovery

How to Flash:
Download the zip file
Rename it to update.zip
Place it on the root of your SD Card (it shouldn't be in any folder)
Power off your phone
Hold Volume Up + Power Button
Release power button and tap volume up once you see the "Infinix" Logo
It will show you a dead Android robot with a red sign
Press Volume Up or Volume down (device dependent) to get into the stock recovery
Scroll down with Volume button to "Apply Update from SD Card"
Scroll down to the update.zip and select with the Power Button.
Install, and once installation is done, reboot your system and wait for system to start.

NOTE: If you are rooted and want to install this update, you need to Flash back your stock ROM with SP Flash Tools or Infinix Flash Tool to get this update working.
